EJJP statement on the killing of Rachel Corrie

March 20, 2003

It is with great sorrow that we received the news of the sudden death of Rachel Corrie

On March 16th.It was caused by a brutal act of violence by the IDF in the city of Rafah, Palestine, while she was involved in a non-violent, humanitarian action to protect unarmed civilians.

We wholeheartedly hope that her parents and all who were near to her may find consolation in the fact that her courageous behaviour stands as a sign of hope in these days of war and terror. Her tragic death contains an important message to the whole world: the awareness that the road of violence leads to a dead end.
